TV Season

Written by Nikki-ann on Wednesday, 9 January , 2008 at 11:36 pm

January usually sees the return of Jack Bauer and ‘24′ on our TVs (well on my TV, anyway!). Unfortunately, Kiefer Sutherland is currently sat in jail and the 7th season of ‘24′ is on hold indefinately due to the writers strike. Filming hasn’t finished on the series and the season needs to air uninterupted due to its format, so it looks like we’ve got a bit of a wait for this one. I have seen a trailer for the forthcoming season and it looks great, so I’m sure it will be worth the wait.

Another show I’m looking forward to is Torchwood season 2, starting 16th January on BBC2. The first episode of the season not only stars the wonderful John Barrowman (obviously!), but it also stars another favourite of mine, James Marsters as Captain John Hart. Videos (including spoilers - so BEWARE!) can be found over at the Episodes section of the website - Link.

Talking of John Barrowman… His autobiography (so far!) Anything Goes (written with his sister) is released on 24th January (UK) and in April (US). Yet another book for me to add to my growing pile, but one I’m sure I’ll enjoy. John will also be doing book signings… and I am very tempted! The book will also be available as an abridged audiobook.

Everybody Loves Raymond is currently in my DVD player. I finished season 7 last night and will probably start season 8 at the weekend. I have yet to buy season 9 though, so I guess I’d better hurry up on that score!

I couldn’t help myself last weekend while passing through WH Smith. They had a sale on DVDs, so I couldn’t resist taking a look… and buying 4 DVDs (including In Pursuit of Happyness)! I had a bargain though. The DVDs cost me £19 in total, with one of them only costing £1. I also found a bargain in Woolworths. I managed to buy Take That’s official 2008 calendar for £2.49 - Definiately a bargain!

What is this tv of which you speak? We have none of that here thanks to the writers strike. Or rather nothing that’s worth watching :(

Oh yes, I can’t wait for the latest 24 either. They just seem to get better and better! I am also a big James Masters fan so I will have to check out Torchwood now. Funnily enough I have just finished watching Season 4 of Buffy TVS :) I always loved the character of Spike ;)

We used to have Woolworth’s once upon a time. I loved that store. I enjoy picking up bargain dvds and it shows. Happy watching! :) Is the show Til Death over there? It has Ray’s bro from the show. It is hilarious!

I’m soooooo jealous, I’m not sure I’ll be able to see Torchwood over he in New Zealand :( At the moment I don’t have SKY. Even if I did, I only think we get BBC World Service and BBC1….meh!! I’ll just have to wait for the DVD Boxed set… (SULK)

Hi, just had a look at the clips for Torchwood, looks great. At last something worth watching, tv has been dire just lately. I have nothing to float my boat with at the moment, Blood Ties has finished and that’s the only thing I’ve been watching.

We’re getting season 2 of Torchwood on January 26th on BBC America. I’m excited because season one only ended a month or so ago. (We got it a year late basically.) I’m definitely looking forward to it as there’s a HUUUUUUGE gaping hole in the tv schedule for sure.

I’ll be watching Torchwood again. I like the little hidden codes and so forth, which presumably have reached a new level for the next series.

Hi Michele sent me back!

I’ve seen Dr Who and this being shot in Cardiff a number of times when I have been in the city. You know James Marsters looks good with the brown hair but he looked so much more ‘bad’ (in a good way) with the blonde hair!

I love Torchwood!
I’ve loved John Barrowman since I first heard his voice. Is there anyone who does a more lovely version of High Flying Adored? :)
I can’t wait for the new season. I heard that they’re cleaning it up a bit, trying to make it more family. Not sure about that.
And I have to say I’m not surprised that the Brits are first in portraying an essentially gay character in Sci-Fi. Refreshing. Great show. :)

Michele says hello!

I love “24″ as well, Nikki. Since there’s not much new programming now I’m starting to watch cable shows on DVD that I didn’t see when they were first shown. I’m going through “Deadwood” now and absolutely love the first season.

I love watching Everybody Loves Raymond! I can’t wait for the new 24 but this writers strike is driving me mad. I have now started with Season one of Gray’s Anatomy; and still have about 10 movies to watch~

we are constantly bombareded with Everybody Loves Raymond reruns on cable, and since I don’t have time to watch them all, and since I’m too cheap to get the DVD’s, I’m recorded them to watch during the summer when there’s nothing new on. we really enjoy it!

Kiefer has been released from jail after 48 days. That is 2×24. Must be a deliberate thing.

I gather there’s two cuts of Torchwood. The normal one and a pre-watershed version. I wonder what they cut? or add?
